WALK FROM
        SKEGNESS
        Sunday 6th
        September 2009

At
10 am, a group of 8 walkers set off from opposite the Seaview Pub on a
10 mile 'figure of 8' walk to the villages of Ingoldmells and
Addlethorpe. Despite a mainly cloudy day, it remained fine and dry with
        a light breeze.

Our route took us along St Andrews Drive, North Shore Road and after
crossing the A52, through an housing estate to join a footpath to
Winthorpe Church. We then used footpaths to reach Addlethorpe Mill from
where we headed towards Addlethorpe Church.

Turning
east along footpath 285, we soon joined a drain bank to reach the A52 at
Ingoldmells. Walking through the village we turned on to High Street to
pass the parish church before joining footpath 280 to take us to
Addlethorpe Church where we stopped for our lunch break.

Following
lunch, we crossed the village green and headed down Chapel Lane where we
joined footpath 286 to take us back to Mill Lane. Proceeding east along
the lane, we once again passed Addlethorpe Mill and then joined Wall's
Lane. Turning right on the footpath through the Skegness Water Leisure
Park we then took the opportunity to use the newly reopened footpath 315
which had been closed for many years. This took us east to the Royal Oak
pub and the A52. Using the nearby Pelican crossing we then proceeded
down Winthorpe Avenue to reach the Sea Front.

With
the welcome appearance of the Sun we decided to stop for an ice cream
from the nearby kiosk. The final section of our walk took us south along
the promenade and through the sand dunes to return to our starting point
where we arrived at 3.30 pm.
