WALK FROM
        MABLETHORPE
        Sunday 26th
        April 2009

Setting off at 10.05 am on a fine, sunny day, a group
of 10 walkers enjoyed a 10 mile circular walk from Mablethorpe North End
        car park.

Walking north into the Saltfleetby-Theddlethorpe Dunes
National Nature Reserve we entered a haven of peace and tranquility with
only the sound of wildlife. Gentle climbs up sanddunes provided fine
views over the reserve to the sea and surrounding countryside.

Using a combination of permissive paths and public
footpath 55 we eventually reached Rimac from where we headed east to the
edge of the dunes and then turned south alongside the dunes, stopping at
the second of two war-time pillboxes for our lunch break.

After lunch we returned into the heart of the reserve
and used Oliver's Trail to reach the Churchill Lane car park from where
we headed south-west along Churchill Lane, the A1031 and then proceeding
down Station Road. Using crossfield footpath 248 we headed south-east to
visit the village church at Theddlethorpe St Helen and its bluebell
        covered churchyard.

Walking south-west along the length of public footpath
250 we then walked south along a minor road to reach the 'King's Head'
pub from where we used a combination of footpaths 252 and 251 to again
reach the A1031. Crossing this busy road with great care we used
footpath 253 eastwards through the Theddlethorpe gas terminal and then
walked along Meers Bank to arrive back at our starting point at 2.50 pm.
