WALK FROM
        HOGSTHORPE
        Sunday 29th
        March 2009

Setting off at
10.00 am on the first day of British Summer Time, a group of 8 walkers
enjoyed a 9¾ mile circular walk in fine, mainly sunny weather with
        only the occasional cloudy spell.
Starting from Thames Street, our route took us through
Hogsthorpe churchyard to join the A52 South End road from where we soon
joined footpath 50 to reach an 'other route with public access' which
took us to Slackholme End. From here we proceeded north along South Ings
Lane and then west along Sloothby High Lane to reach Sloothby Low Lane,
a strip of Registered Common Land which was used to reach the village of
Sloothby. Walking along this common land, a barn owl was sighted, a
yellow bird and on previous occasions dear have been seen.

From
Sloothby, we used footpath 93 northwards to join
Cumberworth Road for a distance of approximately 400 metres before
turning off to join Westfield Lane, where we stopped for lunch.

After lunch we headed north to join Alford Road and
then east on footpath 68. As footpath 67 in not passable, we used an
'other route to public access' to reach the village of Mumby.

We then
completed the final stretch of our walk by using public footpath 58 to
return to our start point in Hogsthorpe.
